More info in the rabbitry tour I hope to get filmed and uploaded today!
Today while doing a much needed rabbitry cleanup I decided to move some rabbits around and switch cages on a few of them. I'm getting a new doe this weekend, so I needed to make the quarantine cage available for her, which is just routine and what I do with each new rabbit I bring into the herd. So, since Maybelline was still in there, I went ahead and moved her to Butterfly's cage (Butterfly is currently in the house with her kit). I noticed that May really didn't like the hutch she was in for quarantine. It's old and well used, and the hinges are rusty, so whenever I unlocked or locked the doors it would squeak and make her jump (poor thing!). I think the change of cage will be good for her, maybe she'll finally be able to destress and settle in! Zuzu and Wicket switched cages. I did this because Zuzu was previously on a bottom cage, and since I'm going to breed her soon, she needed to be in a middle or top cage. I don't like having babies on bottom cages, because we get cats and sometimes dogs in the rabbitry, the bottom cages are the most dangerous and for a smart rabbit that knows to stay away from danger, like Wicket or any of my adults, it's fine. But for overly affectionate 3-week olds, they might get their nose nipped off. Yikes! Plus Wicket sprays sometimes, so down to the bottom he must go.
