Ask experienced breeders. They know more then most vets and most of the writers of those popular books on the market. Most breeders have sites or books they keep referring to. I know I do. If I can't say in my own words the answer to your question, I can usually refer you to a book, internet source, or even another breeder that would promptly give you the answer.
Ask a vet. There aren't many rabbit-savvy vets around, but if you find a good one and feel confident in his knowledge on rabbits, ask him questions or what sites and books he recommends to find out more.
Reading up on the proper care of rabbits and doing your research is a good thing. But not all the time. There is a lot of stuff out there that just isn't true. Be careful of what you read, and how much you read too.
