You can start building a bond with your bunny as soon as he/she becomes interested in you and comes up to the cage to check things out and for petting and love. With a Holland Lop, that will not take long! A week at the MOST, more likely just 3-4 days, sometimes as little as the next day.
You can feed your baby oats out of your hand. This will tell him that you are friendly and only want to make him happy. He'll realize that coming to you will give him GOOD things!
Let your rabbit out to play. This can be in your house or on your yard. Lay on your belly. To begin building the bond, let your rabbit come to you. Let him sniff you, walk on you, investigate, and play. Don't chase your baby, and make soft, slow movements. Don't be loud, but be sure to talk to your rabbit so he gets used to your voice.
Whenever your rabbit comes to you, stroke him, give him a little scratch on the ear, feed him some oats. Reward him for making the first move toward friendship.
Bonding with your baby, just like bonding with any other friend or family member, requires time and patience. You and the rabbit can get frustrated easily, but just remember to take it slow and that bonds are not built overnight.
