I like bigger cages for my bunnies. It gives them more room for their toys, food dish/water bottle and still room to play, stretch out and be a bunny.
Most hutches are 2' by 3', and I think this size is perfect for an outdoor bunny. My cages are 24" by 30", and all the rabbits get frequent running around time outside their cages, and this also works very well.
When deciding on a cage for your rabbit, take some of these into consideration when deciding size:
- If your rabbit will be litter trained, the litter box will take up some room in the cage.
- The food dish - if on the cage floor - will also take up room.
- The rabbit should have room to lie down, stretch tall, and sit up comfortably.
