About Me
Holly's Hollands Rabbitry is owned and operated solely by me, Holly. I am the eldest of 5 siblings, and my family and I live in beautiful Everett, Washington.
It all started back at the end of 2010, with a little Holland Lop doe, Elsie. She's definitely only pet-quality and will not be used for breeding or showing purposes. After I got Elsie, I read up on breeding rabbits. I thought that it would be cool to someday have my own rabbitry. 2 years later, in March 2012, I decided to begin with one doe, Gracie, that I purchased with the money I earned from my babysitting business. Gracie successfully kindled 5 live babies her first time! I am homeschooled, so my herd gets constant attention. I handle the babies from day 1 to make sure they feel safe with humans and enjoy being held. My rabbitry will remain small forever. We don't breed for pets, but for quality Hollands that will do well on the show tables. My #1 priority is providing for every individual rabbit's needs, as well as the needs for the growing babies. I breed for quality, health and happiness. Not for quantity and more sales. The bunnies that I sell could make great outside or inside pets. They are family-friendly, have wonderful personalities, and temperaments. I am very grateful for the opportunity to raise rabbits at such a young age. I love being a rabbit breeder! On October 4th, 2014, I won Best of Breed with my homegrown junior doe Holly's Saige. She was only 4 months old at the time! We are so proud of her and so excited to see where Holly's Hollands Rabbitry goes in the coming years. On May 7th, 2016, I won Best Opposite Sex Breed, Best of Breed, and Best Opposite Sex Variety with Holly's Butterfly, Saige's niece. This is the best I've ever done in one day!! I would like to thank Kristen Heines from Dragonfly Hollands Rabbitry for selling me my first rabbits, Elsie and Gracie, and for mentoring me in this rabbit hobby! Thank you Kristen! I would also like to thank Matt Helfrich from Blue Storm Rabbitry for giving me my first buck and selling me other rabbits. Thanks! Your advice and comments on my herd has been so helpful! |
Why Should I Buy a Rabbit from Holly's Hollands Rabbitry?
Bunnies are so cute. Can you resist that adorable face, begging for attention and love? Even bunnies from a pet store are cute. But when you are shopping for a family bunny, one that will interact with your children and grow up with them, you want to know that the rabbit came from someone who actually cares about them. No one knows where pet stores get their bunnies. You've got to know that your rabbit came from a good home and from a good family that taught them what is expected of them as a family pet.
Looks are important, but so is development and personality. We cannot morph our babies' personalities, but we can help you find one that will fit your needs and wants of all the family members. If you are going to buy an animal that will be around your children, knowing the history of the parents and their personalities is super important. We encourage you to meet the parents before picking your baby. That way, you will be prepared, have a taste of what your baby's personality will be like and how big he or she will become.
At our rabbitry we interact with and handle our babies from day ONE to get them very used to human interaction, attention, and cuddles. Our babies are SAD when I'm done playing with them for the day. They want to be held all day long! They want more playtime! Not only do we spend so much time with our babies, but also with each and every adult rabbit.
The only way I can spend so much time with them is because I am homeschooled and live in a large family. The bunnies are almost always on my mind. I check on them several times per day, and if something were to go wrong or a bunny was to get hurt (night or day), I would be there instantly to take care of them. Our whole family loves the baby bunnies and spends hours holding and playing with them, especially my little brothers. Our babies are only brought into the world when we have everything ready for them and are ready to spend time with only them, training them and getting them ready for your home. Our moms are not constantly having babies or being pregnant. They only have as many litters a year as is healthy for them.
Right now we are only having one to two litters at a time. Compared to most rabbitries, this is a very small amount. It's not unusual to hear of rabbitries having 5 litters or more per month, or over 30 babies at one time. We choose to do so few litters at a time so we can devote all our time to that litter; caring for it, training it, and getting it ready for your home. We will never have very many rabbits. Health comes first. We keep our numbers small at all times so we can take care of each individual bunny and attend to every need.
All our babies are special and unique; each one of them. They each have their own little personality in such cute packaging. When a baby is born, it is part of our family until we allow you adopt it and make it part of yours. Each little baby is a gift and has left footprints on our hearts. We believe they will leave footprints on yours too.
